Valmorel Ebonised and Gilt Chaise Lounge | Classical French Récamier Chaise Longue for Luxury Bedrooms - EKAR FURNITURE
A chaise lounge lives or dies by its line, and the Valmorel Ebonised and Gilt Chaise Lounge by EKAR FURNITURE is drawn with a clean one. It is a classical French récamier, the kind of lounge seat that rises at one end into a scrolled, upholstered crest and then runs the length of the piece into a low, unhurried far end, so the whole silhouette sits in a soft double curve rather than a flat line. The body is upholstered in a pale ivory striped cloth, and the frame beneath it is finished dark, ebonised in tone and decorated with hand-worked gilt floral scrollwork along the apron. That contrast, pale above and dark below with gold worked into it, is what gives the piece its presence, and it reads as calm and shaped from across the room, and as finely decorated up close. We build it as a bespoke custom furniture lounge in our Foshan furniture factory, in your own fabric and finish.

The silhouette is the first thing to look at. The raised end is not a hard upright panel but a shaped, scrolled crest that curves forward slightly at the top, so the piece offers a place to lean rather than simply a back to sit against, and the top edge of that crest is finished in a soft, rolled line. From the crest the back falls in a continuous, controlled sweep, dipping toward the centre of the seat and lifting again very slightly at the low end, an S-shaped movement that runs through the apron and the legs as well, so the whole chaise reads as one drawn curve rather than separate parts. The seat itself is long and generous and rises gradually toward the low end, which lets it be used for real reclining, legs out, rather than only for sitting upright. That slope is built into the frame, not propped up by padding, so it holds its shape over years of use.

The upholstery is kept quiet so the line stays readable. The cloth is a pale ivory with a fine, low-contrast stripe worked into it, so the surface has texture without pattern competing with the shape of the piece. The raised back is deeply button-tufted, the buttons set in even, regular rows that pull the cloth into soft folds and give the back a full, upholstered face to lean against. The seat is finished smooth and taut, with a clean, even edge where it meets the frame, and the piping follows the curve of the body without breaking at the corners. Fabric is cut and upholstered by hand so the stripe runs true across the seat and the tufting reads evenly, and the cloth can be changed to velvet, damask, or a plain weave to suit your own room or project.

Below the upholstery, the frame carries the decoration. The apron is shaped in a soft, continuous curve and finished on a dark ebonised ground, across which fine floral scrollwork is worked by hand in warm gold, a light, running pattern rather than heavy solid gilding. The chaise stands on carved cabriole legs, gilded at the knee and foot, so the dark band of the apron is picked up again at the base and the piece sits with a clear, composed stance. As export furniture, the frame is built solid, the joints are braced to stay quiet under a full-length seat, and the finish is cured and packed in-house to travel without marking.

In the room, the Valmorel belongs at the foot of a bed in a master suite, where its length anchors the space, or along a wall in a dressing room, boudoir, or salon, where it gives a proper place to sit and recline. It works equally in a hotel suite, bridal room, or private lounge, and its two-tone palette makes it flexible: the dark frame grounds it against pale walls and light flooring, while the ivory body keeps it from feeling heavy. It sits naturally with marble, mirrored and gilt tables, crystal lighting, cream lacquer, and soft blush or sage palettes. There is consistent demand for this style of lounge in the India import furniture market, where buyers in Mumbai and New Delhi specify récamier-style chaises for villas, penthouses, and boutique hospitality interiors. As a high-end furniture customization factory and Foshan custom furniture factory, we set the fabric, tufting depth, gilding weight, and leg carving to your drawings.
